Why T&T refused Bounty? (source: The Jamaica Observer)

Reports out of our sister Caribbean island, Trinidad, that dancehall artiste Bounty Killer was last Friday denied permission to enter that country are disturbing, especially when no reason has been given for the refusal.

Bounty was one of a number of Jamaican acts – among which was Gaza president, Vybz Kartel – scheduled to perform at a show on Saturday night dubbed ‘Ceasefire’. All courtesies were extended to Kartel, but Bounty was sent home on the next plane.

Reports are that not even the promoter was given an explanation regarding the situation. I’m sure that promotion of the show was not a secret and the entire island must have known that the Killer was coming to town.

So why wait until Bounty was actually in Trinidad before presenting him and the organisers of the show with this embarrassing situation. Couldn’t the T&T government have indicated to the organisers of Ceasefire their intention to deny Rodney ‘Bounty Killer’ Pryce entry into the island?
